The GAJA CAFÉ was established in response to a request from local women who were preparing daily meals for the Bal Balwaan Mission project, organized by our sister organization, Grameen First Development Foundation. These fresh, hot meals were prepared every day and distributed to around 90 to 100 malnourished children by 10:30 a.m. The women, who were trained in food safety by the FSSAI, expressed a desire to work full-time in order to earn more for their families.
On March 8, 2024, in celebration of Women’s Day, we decided to launch a small café on an experimental basis to assess whether we could attract sufficient guests and if women could efficiently cater to a variety of cuisines on an order-to-order basis while maintaining the highest hygiene standards.
Our Google reviews for the GAJA CAFÉ reflect our guests’ appreciation, earning us a cumulative rating of 4.8 stars. The GAJA CAFÉ menu has successfully served business travelers, pilgrims, and holidaymakers, as well as local government officers and staff. Additionally, our pioneering pizza home delivery service has been a significant success. Other NGOs in the region also regularly place catering orders for their staff and beneficiaries, contributing to the GAJA KITCHEN’s success within just 8 to 9 months of operation.
